About the Challenge: RRace Across America (RAAM) is one of the world’s toughest and most legendary road cycling races — an almost 5000 km route across the United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast. Along the way, riders pass through 14 states, deserts, mountains and endless plains. RAAM is a nonstop race where the clock never stops, and athletes must find their own balance between pace, limited sleep and recovery.
Goal: since this was my first time participating in RAAM and I had no previous experience with an ultra-endurance bike event of this scale and nonstop format, my primary goal was to finish within the official 12-day time limit and gain the experience needed to race for time and position in the future.
Result: 11 days 4 hours 8 minutes (4th place).
